AION 2, without the beginner tax

400,000 players showed up in week one and half of them got stuck on two decisions: which class, and whether the membership is actually required. This guide answers both in under five minutes.

Three decisions you can’t undo later

Everything else in AION 2 is fixable. These three are not, and they’re all made in the first ten minutes.

02 — Classes

Pick by what you’ll actually be doing at level 45

There is no class change on the Global server. Filter by role, then read the one line that matters: what the class is good at, and what it costs you.

03 — Leveling

1 → 45 in one straight line

Story quests carry almost all the XP. Side content exists to make you permanently stronger, not to fill the bar — so it has a right time and a wrong time.

04 — Free vs paid

What $14.99 actually buys you

This is why the review score sits at 59%. Not because the game is bad — because the free account quietly can’t buy from the player market.

Item Price What it actually gives Verdict
The one line nobody reads on the store page

Free accounts can list items on the Server Market but cannot buy from it. Direct player-to-player trading is disabled for everyone, so the Market is the only way to trade — and half of it is members-only.

✕Membership is bound to one server, not your account. Pick your main server first, then subscribe — otherwise you’re paying twice.
